Separation Anxiety - taking it one day at a time.

"Good things come to those who wait" "Take each day at a time" Winning and losing isn't everything, sometimes the journey is just as important as the outcome"
Separation anxiety step by step

Take your pick of these sayings that you may or not have heard before, or you may have your own you have heard, or say.

They are currently relevant to me as I have been on a weight loss journey for the past year and a half, and it sure hasn’t been a smooth or easy journey and I am not there yet…

I have been taking it one week at a time. Some days just a day at a time and it’s working, I am seeing the results!

It hasn’t been easy and willpower is not one of my strong qualities but it is a work in progress and seeing the results makes it easier to make other choices.

Having other people comment and tell me they see the difference also spurs me on, makes me say, right I am nearly where I want to be, just a bit further to go.

And easily fitting into my clothes or them being too big now is another push.

It all about finding the right motivation

What will push me on?

But I have also had to change my mindset and be careful of who and what I surround myself with.

Separation anxiety in dogs

What’s dog training got to do with weight loss?

I can really see the similarities between losing weight and dog training…. especially with separation anxiety.

When you have a dog you are working on changing their behaviour, working with them one day at a time, taking those small wins with your dog, as those little wins soon build into big wins.

Those weeks when I was disappointed at only losing 1lb, those 1lb’s count up.

When we are working with dogs who can’t cope with being home alone, it’s those seconds that build up into minutes, then those minutes build up into hours

‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’ (There’s another one for you) and that makes sense for both dog training and losing weight.

Take each day at a time, those days will turn into weeks and before you know it your dog is able to cope when left home alone for you to go for a meal with friends.

This applies to all dog training, not just separation anxiety.

Working daily on it and being consistent and you will get there with the right guidance

‘Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can’

I will leave you with that one and will stop with all the quotes, but sometimes they just resonate with you
