It was a gradual realisation that we needed help with Otis,as it had got to the point where we dreaded taking him out on walks because of his pulling and his negative reactions to other dogs.
This was frustrating and disappointing. Carrie was recommended to us by our dog walker.
The worry was that we wouldn't be able to improve our dog's behaviour as we had tried for a long time without success. Since implementing the strategies Carrie has shown us, Otis is walking much, much better on the lead and I can now manage his walks by myself, without fear that disaster might happen. We still have a way to go with his interactions with other dogs, but we feel that slow and steady and we should get there. It was really effective having Carrie come out on the walks with us, as just like with children, it is the parents/owners who need the training and she was able to show us how our behaviour was actually reinforcing Otis's negative behaviours. I would recommend this service, and probably before you are at your wit's end like we were. Thank you Carrie.

We adopted eight year old Jazz from the Dogs Trust in June 18 and soon realised he had major problems coping with other dogs. We found ourselves constantly apologising to other dog owners because of Jazz’s aggressive behaviour – something we had never experienced with our other dogs who were all also from the Dogs Trust. We took him for dog training to try and get him used to being with other dogs in a controlled environment which seemed to work up to a point. However, his behaviour never improved while he was out and about on his walks. It was obvious that he had been very well trained previously and his previous owners had done all the right things while they owned him. After having some devastating news concerning his health we decided to try and manage his behaviour ourselves for the time that he had left which we were told would be no more than six months and could be a lot less. After a few months we decided we were really struggling to cope with him outside and beginning to dread his daily walks. While we were out with him in our local park we saw Carrie’s van and I went on line to find out about her services. We agreed on a home visit and some behavioural tips for us to try. We were surprised how effective the tips were – simple and easy to carry out. We still do them all the time and they mostly work well. We know we will always struggle with Jazz’s behaviour and never know what makes him the way he is, however, we now have some really good days out and about which we hope will continue to improve while we have him even if it may not be for too long.

I spent quite some time searching for a company before I made contact with Carries Canines. Every one I spoke to before looked OK, but I wanted better than OK for my then 6 month old Mastiff pup, Thor. After a conversation with both Carrie and Michelle, and Michelle coming to meet Thor, I knew they were perfect for us.
I was apprehensive of someone else walking my dog - I felt I was giving someone else the responsibility. However I know Thor loves his walks with the other dogs, and it means I can be at work knowing that he is exercised, mentally stimulated, and most importantly is getting the socialisation time with the other dogs that he craves. Before we used Carrie and Michelle we struggled making sure Thor had the quality time he needed to socialise and grow, as we also have another dog who is reactive. They have to be walked seperately despite getting on extremely well, as we cannot walk the other dog in peak times. I was concerned as Thor wasn't getting the amount of time out of the house and meeting and learning from other dogs as I'd like. I was apprehensive but excited when Thor went on his first walk, but Michelle sent me updates and pictures to reassure me Thor was loving life with her.
I cannot stress how much I recommend Carries Canines. They did a full evaluation of Thor before his walk, asked his recall and training words, and genuinely care about him. They are unable to walk Sasha but always ensure she is given loads of fuss when Thor is picked up, and a treat for when they are out (don't tell Thor!) They are fantastic and I cannot say enough good things about them!

Cooper is 10 months old and Carrie has been a huge help in making him the happy and settled dog he is now. Once we decided we wanted to welcome a puppy in to our family we wanted to seek help with training him early rather than let bad habits set in. Obviously when looking for someone to help with Coopers training we wanted someone with plenty of experience but also someone who's methods and ideals appealed to us.
Carrie was recommended and after taking a good look at her website we decided to give her a call.
Carrie started to visit us when Cooper was just three months old. The first meeting at our house was great, we spent time with Carrie getting to know each other, our expectations and Cooper.
Carrie's calm approach from the off gave us confidence in what we were doing and you could immediately see her positive influence on Cooper.
We were very keen that our two young sons were involved in the training so that there was a clear and constant message for Cooper coming from all family members. Carrie was really patient with two very enthusiastic young boys trying to be helpful but often getting in the way.
I think training Cooper was the easy bit! Carrie has always been quick to reply to any queries or questions by phone or e-mail which is great when your dog starts to get into bad habits or if something is concerning you about your dogs behaviour. We have also used Carrie for dog walking from time to time and it has given us peace of mind knowing Cooper is being well looked after and being taken on adventurous, exciting walks. It is great to see the photos and videos Carrie sends, it is clear to see that Cooper has had a great time. He is always calm and settled after a walk with Carrie. I would certainly recommend Carrie to anyone, whether they are getting a new dog or needing a helping hand with any behaviour issues or concerns you have with your canine friend.

First time puppy owners and really wanted to go about things in the best way possible for the dog and ourselves. We purchased Carrie’s puppy package. So glad we did as we didn’t know how much we didn’t know ! We had a session before arrival of Monty and felt well prepared for the first few weeks of his arrival home. Using Carrie’s advice he soon got the hang of toilet training , and we survived teething without losing any items of furniture !! We then joined Carrie’s puppy class weekly. We now have a very sociable dog who loves to meet people and other dogs. He’s ten months old now we’ve taken him on holiday and he’s even stayed in a dog friendly hotel with no hassle at all . He has a strong bond with all of us and listens to the commands of our ten year old - they actually are the best of best friends. Having a dog has been life changing , in the most positive way and I really think having Carrie there for us to give any advice as well as the actual dog training has been key to how enjoyable the whole year so far has been. When we were preparing to get Apollo ours Husky x Labrador i was determined not to be someone whos dog just does whatever they want, we didn't know if he would end up easy to train or be stubborn due to the breed mix. we knew we would start training as soon as it was allowed and thats when we found Carrie. Carrie has helped me shape Apollo in to a Polite (most of the time) dog, if he doesn't pick something up by teaching it one way due to it just confusing him or crossing over with another piece of training Carrie comes up with another solution to suit your dog. Early on we had issues with Apollo pulling on his lead everywhere on walks, over time and a lot of work with Carrie he now walks with his lead dragging on the floor (its such a good feeling) hes happy to walk past people and other dogs without jumping at them to play which has made life so much easier. after being in the puppy/canine club for a good few months its clear how much Carrie cares about our pups and gets to know them so she can better teach us and them at our own paces. The puppy training walks you get with higher membership tiers are my Favorite training sessions by far. Overall we are much happier for people to come round to the house now without him being rude by jumping up or even hurting someone as hes getting to be a big dog now (24.5kg at 7 months!). 100% i would recommend Carrie to any puppy owners out there its a 5/5 Star service. Potential improvement could be made by having Video resources of all the things we train in class as sometimes its hard to grasp timing without actually seeing it done.

Fantastic experience with Carrie. We did a 6 week puppy class and it was well worth the money. She's knowledgeable, friendly and really puts effort into each class. She also brings two of her dogs along to each week for demonstration, which is great as it gives a much clearer idea of what can be achieved. She's also been super helpful with any follow up questions outside of class, such as what food she recommends or dog groomers in the area. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Great value and could see my dogs progress from the start to the end. Would highly recommend.
