Hi, I’m Carrie Stuthridge, a qualified dog trainer and behaviourist in Coventry, helping dogs and their owners across Kenilworth, Leamington Spa, and the surrounding West Midlands.
Since founding Carrie’s Canines & Friends in 2016, my goal has been to help dogs feel safe, happy, and understood through science-based, compassionate training methods that achieve real results.
My journey didn’t start with qualifications, it began with a rescue dog named Tye, who changed everything.
How Tye Inspired My Approach
After years working in fashion, I adopted Tye, a young rescue with big emotions and bigger behaviours. Our early training experiences left me feeling judged and unsupported, and I promised myself that no owner I worked with would ever feel the same.
When I discovered that Tye’s struggles were linked to pain and health issues, I realised behaviour is always communication. That understanding led me to retrain, studying dog behaviour and training with Angela White and the IABTC, and I’ve continued to learn ever since through Canine School of Science and other leading UK educators.

I left the corporate world and built my business from the ground up, working first as a dog walker before launching my own one-to-one dog training and behaviour service.
Now, I work with owners who want kind, effective solutions for puppies and dogs struggling with reactivity, anxiety, or everyday manners.
My Dogs, My Teachers
Every dog I’ve owned has shaped my methods and my empathy:
- Maisie – Collie x Spaniel, demo star and calm role model for reactive dogs.
- Envy – Working Cocker Spaniel, full of drive and enthusiasm, training to help clients alongside Maisie.
- Tye – The dog who inspired it all, and who taught me that patience and understanding change lives.
- Eric – Cavapoo who overcame anxiety and became a gentle, patient helper in sessions. Though he’s no longer with us, his influence continues to guide my work and reminds me daily of the power of trust and understanding.

Can You Help If I’ve Already Tried Training Before?
Yes. Many owners come to me after trying classes, online advice or other forms of training. I’ll talk to you about what you have already tried, what worked, what did not work and where you are still struggling.
I will not simply ask you to repeat the same approach. I’ll look at your dog’s individual needs, behaviour and environment before creating a tailored plan to help you move forward. The aim is to give you a clearer understanding of your dog and practical support that feels achievable for both of you.
