Tracking taps directly into how your dog is wired. It builds extraordinary focus and confidence, transforms scent-driven pulling into purposeful partnership, and creates a bond between dog and handler that lasts a lifetime. Taught outdoors, in real terrain, with Carrie's trademark kind and science-led approach.
No experience needed • All breeds and ages welcome • Force-free throughout
In-person, small-group tracking and trailing classes in Coventry, Kenilworth, and Leamington Spa. You bring your dog and their nose. Carrie provides the terrain, the tracks, the expert coaching, and the structured progression that turns natural scent drive into a focused, joyful working skill — using the same kind, science-led methods she's trusted for across ten years of professional dog training.
Booking is via Carrie's online appointment system — full dates and availability shown when you click through.
For complete beginners. Your dog will follow their first laid trail, you'll learn how to read their body language on the track, and you'll build the foundational harness and line skills that make tracking safe and effective. No prior experience required of dog or handler.
Once you've completed an Introduction course, keep building skills with flexible drop-in sessions — no need to commit to a weekly course. Come along whenever suits, work through progressively longer and older tracks, and keep developing alongside other handlers at your own pace.

Book the Introduction SessionEvery trail is set by Carrie before class to the correct age and complexity for the group. Nothing is improvised. Tracks are designed to challenge each dog at exactly the right level so they succeed, build confidence, and progress.
PreparedTracking is as much about the handler as the dog. Carrie coaches you to read your dog's body language on the trail — what a change of head height means, when they're on scent versus casting, and how to support without interfering. This skill transforms your whole relationship.
CoachingGroup size is kept small. Every dog gets enough time on track, every handler gets direct feedback, and the session never becomes overwhelming. This is the Carrie's Canines standard — not just a number in a crowd.
PersonalEach class builds on the last. Tracks get longer, older, and more complex at a pace that matches your dog's development. You'll always know exactly what's being worked on and why. The same structured, results-driven approach Carrie applies to all her programmes.
StructureEverything is reward-based and science-led. No aversives, no corrections, no shortcuts. Carrie's approach — the same one that's earned five-star reviews and seven Best Trainer awards — is applied to every single session on the track.
Welfare
Hi, I'm Carrie — qualified dog trainer and behaviourist, founder of Carrie's Canines & Friends, and the person behind these Track & Trail classes. Since 2016 I've been helping dogs and their owners across Coventry and the surrounding area build real, lasting confidence together — with kind, reward-based training that's supportive, non-judgemental, and focused on helping you truly understand your dog.
I know how it feels to struggle with a dog's behaviour. I've been there myself. My journey started not with a qualification, but with a dog — and the realisation that most training advice out there left owners feeling judged rather than supported. That experience shaped everything about how I work.
I retrained with Angela White and the IABTC, built Carrie's Canines from the ground up, and have spent nearly a decade helping local owners enjoy peaceful walks, relaxed homes, and dogs they feel genuinely proud of. My approach has never been just about teaching sit, stay, or recall — it's about building a real partnership between you and your dog.
Track and Trail is one of the activities I'm most passionate about sharing because it works entirely with your dog's natural instincts. It transforms the way you see your dog and the way your dog moves through the world. The results speak for themselves — and I cannot wait to show you what your dog is truly capable of.
Everything you and your dog need to learn tracking from the ground up, outdoors, with qualified hands-on guidance from one of Coventry's most trusted dog trainers.
